Student Exchange Program
The mission of PTP-Sheboygan Chapter is to promote the study of other languages. For this purpose 40 years ago, we organized a 5-month student exchange with Esslingen, Germany, Sheboygan's first sister city. Over 300 students from Sheboygan and Esslingen have participated in this exchange. The far-reaching effects of this program can be felt by talking to almost any of the many young people who have taken part in it. Students arrive from Esslingen the middle of July and return middle of December. The Sheboygan County students arrive in Esslingen in February and return in July.
Application - Germany
We now offer a 3-week summer exchange program for middle school students. Students from Sheboygan travel to Esslingen in July and return home in August with their Esslingen partner. Our hope is that the short term exchange will encourage the student to prepare for the 5-month exchange in High School. View
Application - Middle School Student
Five years ago we expanded our Student Exchange Program to Cordoba, Argentina. Many students in Sheboygan County study the Spanish language in middle and high school and we felt it was important to provide a cultural and language immersion opportunity. Each year students will arrive from Cordoba, Argentina in August and attend school until they return to their homes in January. Sheboygan County students will live in Cordoba from February to July. Applications for both Esslingen, Germany and Cordoba, Argentina student exchange programs are accepted from July 1 - December 1.

School and Classroom Program
This program connects teachers and their students with similar-age classrooms
in other countries. Classrooms interact online and offline to collaborate
on educational projects that better student’s understanding of another
culture and help them form friendships with peers abroad. Teachers interested
in participating in a multi-national project with their students are encouraged
to call Judy Slawny
at (920) 457-4258.
Pen Pal Program
Helping to foster international friendships between people of all nations,
the Pen Pal Program is for youth 13 years and older. It’s a great
learning experience for students to be able to correspond with their peers
in another country via email or the postal services contact Judy Slawny
at (920) 457-4258 for additional information.
Global
Youth Forum
At PTPI’s Global Youth Forum, youth from around the world learn
about different perspectives and skills while meeting a new group of diverse
people from many cultures. Dynamic speakers, workshops and activities
highlight this youth conference. Students who have attended said they
feel inspirited to take action in promoting peace, tolerance and mutual
understanding in their communities and nations. Students between the ages
of 13 and 18 are eligible to attend. Click
here for additional info.
Student Ambassador Program
Each year, students visit and learn about other countries and cultures
through the Student Ambassador Program. Delegations of students are accompanied
by teacher-leaders during their summer programs. Student Ambassadors spend
three weeks in Europe, Great Britain, the South Pacific, South Africa,
the Middle East or China. Younger students travel for two weeks to such
destinations as Yosemite National Park, Great Britain, Costa Rica or New
Zealand and Fiji. Click
